The Swan Song

The Swan Song is a whisky bar in Singapore dedicated to good whisky and in particular vintage and rare whisky. We carry whisky of all levels to ensure there is something special for everyone and our aim is to ensure no one walks away unsatisfied.

This labour of love was started by passionate individuals who saw that whisky can at times be intimidating to new drinkers, or inaccessible to the experienced wishing to explore older bottles that are all but gone.  We want to make great whiskies available to everyone at every level. To do this, we offer a wide range of tasting sets, or customised sessions for groups, and even one on ones where we are happy to talk whisky. We carry a small but curated selection of cocktails, rums, spirits, wine and beer. In our pricing, we aim to be fair and reasonable, and welcome constructive feedback at every turn.

The bar has 500 open bottles from closed distilleries such as Port Ellen and Brora while also offering underrated whiskies like Ledaig and Convalmore.

Please visit us to enjoy our wide range of whisky!

E-Gift Vouchers

Dear friends,

We are living in unprecedented times and it looks as if life has dealt us a bad hand this time around. COVID-19 has rocked our world and brought countries, economies, life to a screeching halt. It would be foolhardy to expect our business to remain unaffected. Adversity has a way of revealing stress and strengths.

Once the news of the shutdown of all bars and entertainment venues (from 27 March 2020 to 30 April 2020) was made known, the mood was sombre. But yet true friends both near and far came alongside us and offered with words of encouragement and support. Our hearts were touched. We hope the situation we find ourselves in will pass by quickly.

We have planned a series of initiatives that we hope can help us tide through this difficult period – one of which is the the sale of E-Gift vouchers (in $50, $100 and $500 denominations) which can be utilised at the bar when we reopen after 30 April 2020 (fingers crossed) or later.

All sales will go to ensure the survival of The Swan Song which will pay mainly for basic operating expenses (rental, continued upkeep of the premises) and the remaining to staff salaries. Nothing more. And to express our deepest gratitude, every sale of an E-Gift voucher will come with a special free dram.

We look forward to your support (no matter how big or small) – we will be eternally grateful. May you also find strength in these challenging times.

Regards

Updates (1 May 2020)

When we first decided to started the bar in 2017, all we wanted was to create a place for whisky lovers to enjoy all the whiskies we have to offer, for the experienced to have access to older bottles that are all but gone, for everyone to feel comfortable in good company and an endearing whisky community to belong.

3 years on, we are delighted to witness a strong local whisky community forged out of the burning desire to want to explore and know more. Customers became close friends, new drinkers matured into learned connoisseurs. The journey was tough but absolutely rewarding. However, we never did think our calling will just stop here. There is more to be done and to play a bigger role in the local whisky community and industry.

We are pleased to announce the creation of The Good Place (www.thegoodplace.com.sg) – the brainchild of the co-founders of The Swan Song. A specialist online retailer that carries a good range of whisky and other fine spirits amongst other things that are good, warms the heart and nourishes the soul. Like The Swan Song, it also aims to create a thriving social space where one can take a brief respite in the hustle of everyday life, meet people, create new experiences and discover the simple joys of life through its retail and various experiential offerings.

Many might feel this is just a knee-jerk response to the current tough circumstances we all are facing now. But those closest to us, would know that this idea has been in the making for quite some time already. We wished for better circumstances to launch this but no time is ever a good time. And if the current pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that nothing can be taken for granted anymore. In this, we once again are listening to our hearts and decide to follow our dreams just as how we first started the bar.

Once again, we look forward to support on this new establishment. Our biggest well wishes to all of you during these challenging times. Stay strong and healthy.
